Each October, the four Cape Ann communities of Gloucester, Rockport, Essex and Manchester-by-the-Sea will host the Cape Ann Plein Air (CAPA) Festival and Competition. A juror will select 40 nationally recognized painters working “en plein air” to paint on Cape Ann and compete for awards in a week-long celebration of the plein air tradition and contemporary practice.

National plein air competitions take place across the country, contributing millions of dollars to local economies. Cape Ann Plein Air highlights include:

*   A week-long calendar of receptions, demonstrations, artist talks, art tours, and workshops

*   A Quick Draw/Wet Paint day in one of our communities

*   A Collectors Preview followed by a Grand Awards Gala and Art Sale

In order to bring this wonderful celebration to life we need the support of our generous communities. Opportunities to contribute are available at many levels, and all sponsors will be recognized in Cape Ann Plein Air’s program book and highlighted on our website.
